Salt tigers, first vacation wine, a movie idea from a dogs pov and other assorted thoughts /links/ questions
I am sending this mid vacation in India on my much delayed honeymoon (we’re about to celebrate our 3 year anniversary).
These types of posts are some of my favorite. The mix gives an insight into how people’s brains work. It feels digestible. It reminds me of Ross Gay’s book of delights.
A mix of things on my mind, reads, links and other things :
What you focus on impacts your life more than what actually happens
Do under eye bags actually go away?
This Cult Gaia grape clutch that I have not stopped thinking about
I just signed up this NA wine subscription that Holy sent me- stay tuned. I’d love to get NA wines on theo (if you have tried any you’ve loved , lmk)
This salt tiger is everything (I love their spices and recipes and beyond excited for their cookbook coming out next year). Yes the spoon is the tongue.
When building new habits the thing I’ve learned that’s helped the most has been: never miss twice. Once gives you grace. Once reminds you that you’re human. Skip one workout. But don’t let it happen twice because then it becomes the habit.
I hate infinite scroll
I opened a sparkling wine that didn’t have the pop recently and I felt very robbed of an experience
Sophie Lou Jacobsen- my fave glassware maker (see previous substack) looked at theo’s TikTok profile and I may have peaked in life
People don’t grow where they’re judged. They grow where they’re safe to be wrong. (Hello wine world this one is for u)
the first vacation wine >
These fall colors
When did we learn that things needed to be serious to be taken seriously?
Does Netflix just use chatGPT for second seasons of tv shows that do well and just have the prompt say “do this again but season 2?” (Yes, I’m referring to nobody wants this)
If you’re ever in doubt for what wine pairs with tons of food well this holiday season: Sparkling, Rosé, Pinot Noir or Riesling are good bets always.
Theo merch is no longer just an idea!
I wonder if we would all have more empathy for one another if there was a movie from a dogs pov about different dog parents lives
I feel like there is the people who have heard “man I need” too many times to count and some who have never heard the song and nothing in between
I didn’t know ferns can grow out of brick!!! I think there’s a metaphor for life here somewhere
Reliability is so underrated. Do what you say you’ll do. That is it.
Le pod where I talk about the performance of tasting wine at a resto ( Spotify & apple podcasts: I also found out i am the only one listening to Apple Podcasts?)
Katie sent me this substack on toast night and now I must have one. You’re all invited.
Beyond excited to finally get to open this Kusama x Veuve Clicquot Champagne. I write my goals on wine bottles and open it once I’ve accomplished it. #1 way to make the wine taste better, trust.

November 20th friends! Adulthood feels like always doing laundry
Grace doesn’t cost a thing. I feel like the world would be a lot better if focused on the small acts of kindness and paying it forward. Hold the door. Tell the person you like their outfit (or whatever compliment on your mind)
I wish there was a spot on the internet where everyone can log and upvote startup ideas that didn’t work out. It’s so hard to start something and I think of all the ideas that could have helped had it not been so difficult.
Grammar & spelling mistakes are becoming a sign of human-made
More restaurants should have pasta as a side
I recently printed out a vision board and put it on my desk. Something about looking at it every morning is so motivating, I highly recommend.
My fave most recent food wine pairing I had was this lamb hummus with this wine La Baronne’s Carignan & Grenache Blend at Cafe Suliman in Seattle. Such a cute spot. I wish Melrose market was like food hall style like time out market.
Someone should make a company of just food related apparel like staud or lisa says gah, but everything. (yes this inspired all my merch)
Offline is the true luxury
Some recent fits on Tote

Abby Jimenez writes her books from her phone and I thought that was crazy but now I realize I just wrote this whole substack from my phone and it actually felt easier?
I feel like groupthink is a silent cost that no one talks about
Wine clip!!!
The cost of community is inconvenience. The cost of isolation is everything
If you want to think ahead for a Christmas gift, I made one of these for an engagement gift and loved it (it takes ~6 weeks)
That’s all from me, lmk what you thought of this format.
Jess
